OCR: EARLY YEARS Jean Joseph Jacques Chretien was born January 11 1934 in Shawinigan Quebec, the second- -youngest child in a family of nineteen. Politics was in his bones His grandfather was loyal Grit and his father was regional organizer for the Liberal Party At age fifteen, Chretien was heckling Union Nationale speakers and by 1956 he was warming -up crowds for the local Liberal I candidate. Chretien graduated with a law degree from Laval University in 1959 and joined Shawinigan legal firm.
